Exporting Malaysia Globally

"Made by Malaysia"

MATRADE

Malaysia is poised to transform into a high-income country, and spearheading this vision is none other than Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, or MATRADE. Driven by the goal of propelling Malaysia toward high-income status, MATRADE has positioned itself at the forefront of this effort, helping many Malaysian companies break into global and international markets. With a total of 47 global offices, MATRADE is well-equipped to help Malaysian companies seamlessly expand into international export markets.

Woven into MATRADE’s approach is a set of core values that gives both the agency and the companies it supports a solid foundation for global expansion. MATRADE instils in Malaysian businesses the importance of meeting the expectations of international stakeholders and clients by complying with internationally acceptable standards, cultivated through training and programmes such as Export Day programmes and a series of webinars covering various topics on trade, international standards, and regulations. It also prepares companies to stay agile amidst shifting markets and global uncertainty, while encouraging a creative approach that remains grounded in ethical practice. Equipped with these values, Malaysian companies are well-positioned to compete on the world stage.

MATRADE utilises its robust global knowledge as a key tool to help local companies navigate the challenging global market. Established as the national trade promotion agency, MATRADE provides training for exporters at every stage, such as the exporter training programme and advisory services, equipping them with up-to-date methodologies and skill sets. Strategic trade events and exhibitions organised in different countries strengthen Malaysian presence in international markets, creating opportunities for business networking and strategic partnerships. MATRADE also shares timely insight and market intelligence with companies to strengthen global competitiveness and readiness to remain competitive in the global platform.

Inspired by global best practices, MATRADE has ventured into new territory by actively expanding its digital footprint. MATRADE has introduced an AI-driven virtual platform, MADANI Digital Trade Platform (MDTP) in 2025, designed to streamline international market access for Malaysian exporters and SMEs. By integrating business matching, e-marketplace solutions and real-time market intelligence, MDTP provides local companies with the practical digital tools needed to expand their global reach and participate more effectively in Malaysia’s growing digital economy.

Even as MATRADE advances in technological innovations, it has firmly committed itself to the sustainability agenda. By expanding its Greening of Export Supply Chain Programme (GxSCI) and introducing the Government Sustainability Engagement Programme (GSEP), the agency is actively preparing Malaysian MSMEs and exporters for global ESG compliance. Furthermore, to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, MATRADE leads by example through the installation of solar panels and the provision of recycling facilities across its premises. These initiatives were recognised with the Energy Management Gold Standard (EMGS) award.
